Pearling Dhows
Traditional Arab vessels use a distinctive triangular 'lateen' sail which can catch the wind on either side on its surface.
On ocean voyages, dhows could travel south during the winter months with the monsoon winds and north in the summer when the winds reverse direction.
The jalbout with its rectangular stern and long bowsprit and the Sambuk were familiar pearling dhows used of Dubai.
